    Debbie is the Owner of Debbie’s Costume Shop. Her goal is to make costuming easy and fun, whether for a show or an individual. More importantly to build relationships with the creatives of Central Ohio and beyond. You may come into the shop a stranger, but you’ll leave as a friend.

  • Shelby Barnett

    DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZED MAYHEM

    Shelby is the shop’s Director of Operations. She is also Debbie’s daughter! When Debbie opened the shop she always dreamed of being able to work with her daughter. Shelby’s eye for organization and detail compliment Debbie’s creative and visionary eye.

  • Kathy Kehlmeier

    MASTER OF THREADS & TRANSFORMATION

    Kathy worked for many years at Tree of Life Christian Schools as their costumer. She can mend any garment in seconds! When we call on Kathy for help, she excitedly says when and where, and she is there no matter what the project!

  • Sierra Ohnstad

    THEATRICAL ARTISAN

    Sierra helps design shows, works with customers in the shop and makes the most unique costumes! Sierra also works with The Amazing Giants and Gypsy Cat Studios as well as local theaters around Columbus.

  • Patty Bennett

    THEATRE’S SECRET WEAPON

    Patty is our energizer bunny. She has been creating costume for many, many years. She is an excellent seamstress and specializes in creating period pieces. She also has a heart of gold. You may see Patty at the Ohio Historical Society where she spends time volunteering!

  • Temple VanCuyk

    WARDROBE WHISPERER

    Temple has dabbled in the creative since she was a child. She’s done everything from costume designer/seamstress, creative director, stylist, costume mistress and director of photography/photographer for stage, commercials, music videos, film and commercial photography to styling models/actors for ad campaigns and portfolios nationwide. You’ll find her in character at festivals, balls and historical events when she’s not creating in her studio, at Debbie’s or traveling.

  • Tamara Criswell

    COSTUME TAILOR EXTRAORDINAIRE

    Tamara Criswell-Carder, also known as Mrs. CC, was taught to sew by her maternal grandmother and home economics in middle school. She is a self-taught costumer and has been creating costumes for the last two decades. Her speciality is historical costuming. She has worked and volunteered with Bishop Watterson, Trinity Catholic, Capital University Chapel Choir, and the Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She owns her own sewing studio - Play the Part Costumes which is housed at Debbie’s Costume Shop Studio!


  • Tasha Naneth

    COSTUME WRANGLER

    Tasha has a unique set of skills and studies that she uses to make projects come to life, design shows, and help people achieve their vision. She is an award winning costumer, working with a variety of local venues since her graduation from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2012. Tasha uses her love of history to inform her design choices and finds the best challenge in creating period pieces infused with whimsy and character.
